Meet Ciara McNeill Musgrave, LCSW

Hi, I’m Ciara McNeill Musgrave, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges with confidence, resilience, and hope.

I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2019 through one of the nation’s few Joint MSW Programs offered by North Carolina A&T State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I also hold undergraduate degrees in Human Development and Family Studies and Psychology, giving me a strong foundation in understanding how people grow, develop, and heal throughout every stage of life.

My professional experience began in the public school system, where I worked across six K–12 schools supporting students with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and social needs. I later spent nearly a year and a half in community mental health as a Child and Adolescent Specialist, providing both individual and group therapy to clients ranging in age from 4 years old through older adulthood. These experiences shaped my passion for helping people across the lifespan and deepened my understanding of the unique challenges individuals and families face.

Since transitioning into private practice in 2021, I have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I specialize in supporting clients experiencing anxiety, perfectionism, depression, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), grief and loss, relationship and marriage concerns, codependency, disordered eating patterns, high-functioning autism, and social and emotional skill development. I also enjoy helping clients navigate life’s major transitions, including marriage, parenthood, career changes, relocation, and the transition into or out of college.

My Approach

I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported—but also challenged to grow. My style is warm, compassionate, honest, and practical. I’m not simply here to nod along; I’m here to help you recognize patterns, develop insight, and build the skills needed to create meaningful, lasting change. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about your next step, we’ll work together to find clarity and move toward the life you want to build.

My therapeutic approach is individualized and draws from several evidence-based modalities, including:
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques
  • Trauma-Informed Care
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) techniques
  • Gottman Method principles for couples

No two clients are alike, and I believe therapy should be tailored to your unique goals, strengths, and experiences.

Why I Love What I Do

One of my core beliefs is that while one person may not be able to change the entire world, therapy can absolutely change someone’s world. Being invited into that journey is both a privilege and a responsibility that I never take for granted.

And because I believe a little humor can go a long way, I often tell my clients, “I came out of the womb with high-functioning anxiety—and if I can learn to manage it, there’s hope for you too!” Sometimes the best healing begins when we realize we don’t have to face life’s struggles alone.

I offer both in-person counseling and secure telehealth services for clients throughout North Carolina, and I look forward to helping you take the next step toward healing and growth.
